Scouting Report: The position of mother-of-the-bride went unfilled for several days after the engagement, until management settled on Dana. "We figured that her role in the conception, gestation, labor, delivery, and rearing of the bride was enough qualification," said an unidentified team official. Officials were originally scared away by Dana's habit of crying at the drop of the emotional hat, but during contract talks she agreed to bring two boxes of Kleenex® to the ceremony to dry any tears. Because she had no previous wedding experience, beyond being a bride herself some 30 years ago, the Grossman/Reilly team was able to sign Dana to a contract that was just above the league minimum. However, Dana's stock rose when people found out that she was practically a celebrity [see here, Dana - née Dana Cook - is in "Blast From the Past"]. Dana's agent threatened to hold her out of the Rehearsal Dinner, and the team was forced to renegotiate her contract. "When a member of the wedding party gets this kind of publicity, it's valuable to the whole team," said a high-level member of the Grossman/Reilly organization. "We felt that Dana's compensation should reflect her value to the team." |
